Iranian short ‘Cycle’ wins at Romanian fest

The 2020 SIMFEST in Romania honors Iranian short ‘Cycle’.

Iranian short flick ‘Cycle’ has garnered an award at the 2020 edition of the International Festival of TV Broadcasters and Independent Producers – SIMFEST in Romania.

Directed, written, and produced by Ashkan Khoshsorour, the short film won the award at the Video section of the SIMFEST.

According to the official website of the festival, “It is hard to tell a story in less than 2 minutes. Ashkan Khoshsorour has done it. He brings in front of the universal infernal cycle of domestic violence. The strong images, without being brutal, will lead us at the end where a question remains: ‘who and how will break the cycle?"

The cast of the short film includes Mehrzad Mirpirouzi and Benita Pourtaqi.

Iranian documentary ‘Beloved’ and feature film ‘Zohreh’ have also been awarded at the Romanian festival.

The SIMFEST is a TV festival – competition and the only one of this kind in Romania and among a few in Europe.

It is a complex manifestation of electronic mass media and the annual meeting point of TV specialists across the globe, as well as students, independent producers, and media enthusiasts.

The 2020 edition of the SIMFEST was held on September 14-20.
